I opened my door one Sunday morning and found a HUMUNGOUS box addressed to me on my doorstep. Well, of course, I was so excited that I couldn’t even concentrate on my homework. Even during my tuition class, when the teacher asked me what the capital of Brazil was, I said, ‘Box.’ Silly me! My teacher was furious and baffled.
Finally, finally, finally, all my tasks for the day were done, and I was allowed to open the box. I ripped the box open- and there was…….get ready for this……Nothing in it! Puzzled, I searched for the address. It was sent by my absent-minded uncle. He had clearly forgotten to put the gift in!!!! He was legendary for doing things like this. Let me tell you about what he did just last week…
My uncle came home soaking wet, even when my aunt had given him 3 umbrellas.
My aunt asked, “Why are you wet even when I gave you 3 umbrellas?”
He replied, “I left one in the library, one in the cab and er… where is the third…”
Auntie exclaimed, “You are holding the third one!”
People often got annoyed with my uncle, but we had a connection, my uncle and I. I was his favourite niece, and I loved him despite his queer ways.
That evening, I was bored and decided to climb into the box to play inside just as I used to as a child.
I had just stepped in when a huge screen appeared before me.
‘WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO?’ The words flashed across a screen on the inside of the box.
I laughed with joy. The box was the gift!
I typed, “Andaman Islands.’
There was a vibration, and I found myself in a life jacket, and the box transformed into a boat.
Then the same touch screen appeared before me, ‘Which time period do you want to be in?'
“1948,” I responded.
Just then, I found myself on a tiny island in the middle of the sea. As quick as I could, I scrambled out, eager to see what I would find. I knew there were unfriendly tribes there, but in all my excitement, I forgot that little fact and started running around. I heard wolves howling, birds chirping and monkeys scrambling up and down trees. I was in paradise. Soon, I heard a different kind of sound: the sound of marching feet and chanting. Dangerous-looking tribals were marching towards me! They had their spears pointed at me, and they looked decidedly unfriendly. I backed away slowly but soon realised I was on a cliff’s edge. To make things worse, my precious box, my only means of escape, was floating away! I jumped from the cliff for my dear life, and luckily, the box opened, and I landed inside with a THUD! OUCH!
Shivering with fear, I typed “my cosy bed” as my final destination.
Thankfully, I found myself safe and sound, cuddling my pillow in my bed!
The End.
Next time, if there is a space in the box, I would love to accompany you to experience the outing and safe guard you to certain extent, since I myself get lost if it is wild. Enjoyed reading it.
