Dear Diary,
I am slowly starting to forget everything about Earth…..everything except my family, from my naughty little brother to my dog. I miss them so much. I wonder if anyone is still looking for us, or do they believe that we could not have survived. How did a regular school trip to explore our space stations go so horribly wrong? Students had been going on these trips since the early 2100s without a single accident….I guess, we were just unlucky. At least our space car crash landed on this planet. The atmosphere and habitat are similar enough to Earth ( without all the smog and pollution) for us to survive and the original inhabitants are just like us- everyone is under 18.
This planet is so well run and all by kids! This week, I am on Team Foragers. I hoped we’d find some wild berries and mushrooms today and we did! The vegetarian lifestyle has been good for our health but some days, I really long for a juicy burger and my mom’s lasagne. Today was so cold! I am glad this planet has the fluff plant that gives us the warm cotton- like material to make thermal wear. Here, everyone has work assigned to them. I miss being just a kid sometimes, but at other times, I love the freedom to live by kids’ rules rather than silly adult ones. Those of us who landed a few years ago have accepted the idea that this might be our home for our lifetime!
By the way, Bolelochians taught us to speak in Woulfinoko. I’m the best from our group in English and keeping this journal is helping me keep my memories of Earth alive. Today, after my foraging duties, I presented a lecture about the importance of a balanced meal, which went very well. Neya had to watch the babies- I was so pleased it wasn’t my turn today. Planet Bolelocho is a curious mixture of high tech gadgets and gizmos and some more primitive practices. It has taken all of us from Earth some time to get used to the changes. We forage for food but we have gadgets that instantly turn ingredients to meals. Today, I got spaghetti with tomato sauce and our freshly harvested mushrooms from the Instant Food Maker. I also had a berry milkshake as a treat. Robin joined me for lunch today, but she started to feel unwell after she binged on the berry pudding. Fortunately, she felt instantly better after she had The Instant Curing Tablet.
Robin and I used our special vision goggles and headphones to pull up images of all events around us. The breaking news was about a new invention- The Pollution Sucker. Although the Bolelochians have strict laws about pollution and littering, it was a relief to know that there was a way to undo the past damage faster. So cool, right? If we ever get rescued, I will take a Pollution Sucker back home. After that I went to the new kids’ club- SpaceWorld and made some new friends. I went for a ride on a fake spaceship, and I even got to steer it! We played Fly and Catch. I zoomed soooo fast by pressing the buttons on my backpack and switching on my helmet head-lamp. But soon we had to leave because it was the club’s closing time.
And the best part of the day… It was Clara’s birthday!!!!! The CEO of The System took me aside during the party and told me he would be promoting me as his adviser. I was so overjoyed! Everyone got a live book each and I got A History Of The Lost Planet, Earth. I hadn’t known it was lost! It was all about how foolish and angry adults tore the Earth, the planet we originated from, to pieces. The foolish ones polluted it and the angry ones started wars and battles. I watched it on the live pages with the loud audio. I was shocked- this was how the future would remember my beloved Earth. Inhabitants on this planet only grow till 18 and don’t become foolish adults but are instead, reborn as babies again. What an eventful day! Poor Earth.
Don’t you think, Diary, that we should have treated our planet better? Perhaps, one day, when we go back to Earth, we can recreate a Bolelocho-like System there. But….will we get to go back?
