“A very short life you’ve lived,

Short and boring!

Stuck on this tree, unmoving

While I’ve travelled the world-Free, Free".

“You are wrong, little bird,

I have had a lovely life.

I’ve seen the seasons change,

And had an outfit for each.

I’ve rustled with the wind,

And laughed with the rain,

I’ve whispered with the sun,

And spoken to the trees

I’ve served my purpose,

And I’m glad

Turning red, yellow,

Orange, and green

Now to soften the garden’s path,

Now to hear you tweet and chirp,

Now to see the great blue skies,

Now to speak no more."
